Calcutta Mercy School of Nursing
Calcutta Mercy School of Nursing is operated in conjunction with the hospital in Calcutta. Founded on March 14, 1979, the School of Nursing is devoted to providing quality education to young women from impoverished backgrounds that will help them break the cycle of poverty and gender bias. The school is equipped with well-qualified professional teaching staff and state-of-the-art facilities that thoroughly prepare graduates for careers in healthcare. The School of Nursing offers two programs; a ten month Diploma in Institutional Nursing Administration and Education, and a three and a half year program in General Nursing and Midwifery. Cross-cultural training is also available at the Mark & Huldah Buntain School of Nursing at Northwestern University in Kirkland, WA.
Every year the school admits twenty-five students into the program. The number of students is consciously kept low so students receive more individual attention from professors. Beyond their prestigious credentials and exceptional knowledge of medicine, faculty at the school share a compassion for the less fortunate. This desire to serve the overlooked in society is at the core of the Calcutta Mercy School of Nursing.
